William "Bill" H. Moller

William “Bill” H. Moller, 81 of West Des Moines, left this earth on February 11, 2023, at EveryStep Kavanaugh House following a brief illness. Bill was born January 15th, 1942, to Ira and Lucille Moller in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Kemper Military School and College in Booneville, Mo. He continued his higher education and graduated from Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science. This began his career as co-owner /operator of Hamilton’s Funeral Homes. He continued to serve the families of Altoona, Mitchellville, and Des Moines until his retirement in December 2001. Bill met and married Glenda Goff and they had two children together, Molly Vriezelaar of Olathe, Kansas and Edward Moller of San Diego, California. Ol’ Bill lived by the motto “Keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you are up to”. That is exactly how he lived his life. Bill always used his quick wit to add something humorous to any situation. Sometimes appropriate, sometimes not so appropriate. Bill was a talented photographer, woodcarver, and would pull out his harmonica at the drop of a hat. He had a smile and laugh that was contagious. He was a member of many lodges, organizations and groups. He was a devoted pet owner his entire life and donated time and money to The Animal Rescue League of Des Moines. Bill was preceded in death by his mother and father and his brother, John F. Moller Sr., and Jayne Anne Sullivan, his partner since 1999, who passed away March 2020. He is now, in his words “joined with the love of his life at the gates of Heaven”. Bill is survived by, sister, Norma Lee Bush; daughter, Molly (Chad) Vriezelaar and son, Edward (Victoria) Moller; grandchildren, Lydia Vriezelaar, Alexander Vriezelaar, Isaac Moller and Leah Moller; first wife, Glenda (Mike) Hanback; second wife and dear friend, Lyn Elsberry; sister-in-law, Judy Moller; brother-in-law, Floyd Simmeman and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be 12 PM Friday, February 17, 2023, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church 4114 Allison Ave., Des Moines, Iowa. There will be 2 hours of visitation prior to services at the church. A private burial at the Jordan Cemetery in West Des Moines, Iowa. He will be missed by his family and in their hearts forever.
