Lorraine Campbell

Ankeny, IA (formally White Oak, IA) Lorraine Campbell was born on May 8, 1926 in Spirit Lake, IA to Jessie and Henry Cardell. She passed away at Taylor House on October 13, 2023 at the age of 97. Services will be at the Elkhart Christian Church on Friday, October 20, 2023. Visitation will be at 10AM and Church service at 11:30AM. Lunch to follow after service. Burial will be at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to: Elkhart Christian Church, 252 NW Washington Ave., Elkhart, IA 50073 or Taylor House, 3401 E Douglas Ave., Des Moines, IA 50317. Lorraine is survived by children: Charles (Mary) Campbell, Omaha, NE and Cathy (Chuck) Kovacevich, White Oak, IA. Grandchildren: Barbara Kovacevich(Rick Argotsinger) Highlands Ranch, Co., Julie(Joe) Husak, White Oak, IA, Matt(Leah) Kovacevich, White Oak, IA, Susan(Jody) West(Ankeny, IA) and Chris(Anabel) Nataros, Naples, FL., Elara Edwards, UK. Great Grandchildren: Joe and Ava Husak, Eleanor and Will Kovacevich, and Astrid Lorraine Nataros. Sister in law, Phyllis Campbell, nieces and nephews. Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dale, brother-in-law, John Campbell and sister in law, Norma Howorth She enjoyed her family, watching sports, reading, word puzzles, computer time, 31st St. neighbors and Game Day gals! Lorraine attended AIB in Des Moines and went on to work at Standard Oil in Des Moines. After marriage to Dale Campbell on June 18, 1950, they relocated to Boise, ID for the Air Force. They later returned to the Elkhart area, where Dale farmed with his uncle Alfred Alleman. Upon the retirement of Dale’s parents, they purchased the family farm north of White Oak where they lived 51 years. After Dale’s passing in 2001, Lorraine moved to a townhome in Ankeny and lived there for over 21 years! Lorraine was a member of the following: Elkhart Christian Church(73 years), American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star, VFW Auxiliary, Daughter of the Nile and Ankeny Women’s Club. The family would like to thank Dr. Kirk Peterson and his staff, and the Taylor House staff for their kindness and compassion.
